The lived story behind School of Simple Living

School of Simple Living grew out of a real transition: from professional achievement and modern complexity toward family, land, community, self-responsibility and a deeper question of purpose.

Founder story

Bharat / Ben, founder of the School of Simple Living, stands at a bridge between professional systems and a more grounded life: tools and practices from project management, servant leadership, coaching and facilitation are the foundation for homeschooling, community building, land, family and spiritual practice.

That bridge matters because many people do not only need inspiration. They need a way to translate longing into decisions, structure, accountability and experiments that can survive real family, money, work and community pressures.

Bharat / Ben's TEDx talk gives the human story behind the work — watch the TEDx origin story below.

TEDx Origin Story

From the hamsterwheel to Simple Living & High Thinking

Before School of Simple Living became a framework, it began as a lived question: what happens when success no longer feels like freedom? In this TEDx talk, Bharat shares the human turning point behind School of Simple Living — leaving the corporate hamsterwheel and rebuilding life around family, nature, service and self-realization.

TEDx Golden Handcuffs The opening — how a successful career can quietly become a comfortable trap.
TEDx Why I Left the Hamster Wheel The turning point — choosing to step out of the rat race and toward a life of Simple Living & High Thinking.
TEDx Eight Suitcases and a Few Bags The moment of letting go — what it takes to leave a life behind and start over.

From achievement to recalibration

Many people do not need more productivity. They need to ask whether the life they are producing is still aligned with their truth.

The movement behind School of Simple Living is a recalibration: less dependency, less noise, less performance; more responsibility, more practical skill, more family presence, more community and more space for self-realization.

Bharat / Ben can be understood as a simple living coach, regenerative life designer, homeschooling father, community builder and bridge-builder between leadership, spirituality and simple living.

A small example of the school

When Bharat / Ben's son helps source local, manually harvested organic olive oil from Portugal, that is the School of Simple Living in miniature: useful knowledge, practical life skills, family, land, honest work and a product connected to real life.

It creates a simple win-win inside the community: members can receive a high-quality natural oil while a young person is encouraged and strengthened in early entrepreneurship.

The School of Simple Living wants to create many such moments: spaces for exchange, mutual support and contribution where value is not only measured by the dominant monetary system, but by the real usefulness created with and for one another.

Health, Ayurveda and lived transformation

A founder story of empowerment and self-healing

Bharat’s work is also informed by years of practical engagement with Ayurveda, herbal medicine, essential oils, detoxification, frequency therapy and holistic self-regulation. He learned from an Indian BAMS physician specialized in herbs and worked for years with Ayurvedic medicine, including importing Ayurvedic products from India as a voluntary consultant and later as a managing director in Austria.

His own journey with asthma, allergies, celiac disease, food intolerances, Lyme disease, parasites, heavy-metal burden and other chronic challenges became less of a victim story and more of an empowering experience: a deep re-learning of eating, sleeping, drinking, breathing, environment and daily rhythm, grounded in traditional high-culture knowledge and a growing trust in the body’s remarkable self-healing capacity.

This is shared as personal founder background and lived experience. It is not medical advice, and not a promise that School of Simple Living, Simple Living Coach or Servant Leader Institute can diagnose, treat or cure any disease.

Lineage, mentorship and gratitude

Lineage, mentorship and gratitude

A significant part of Bharat’s personal and professional development has been shaped by the work of Dr. David B. Wolf, the Vedic Personality Inventory, Satvatove’s transformational courses and the practical wisdom behind the book Relationships That Work. Bharat gratefully acknowledges this influence. Much of his work builds on, responds to and extends what he has learned through years of mentorship, practice and lived application.

School of Simple Living and Servant Leader Institute are independent projects and any projects, workshops or seminars are not official Satvatove programs unless explicitly stated. Satvatove, the VPI and Dr. David B. Wolf’s work are acknowledged here as important roots, inspirations and formative influences in Bharat’s journey and work.
